IT Sector Hiring: The pressure on the IT sector of the country is clearly visible. This is the reason why the largest company TCS has stopped the increment to be held in April for the time being. However, the company has decided to recruit 42 thousand trainees this year as well.
There is good news for the youth looking for jobs in the IT sector which is under pressure. TCS, the largest company in the Indian IT sector, has started preparations to recruit 42 thousand trainees in the new financial year as well. The company has said that it will start the recruitment process soon. The company has said that the same number of trainees were recruited in the last financial year itself. Earlier, the company stopped the annual increment in April for the time being, which has come as a big shock to the existing employees.
TCS Chief HR Officer Milind Lakkad said that the company has given promotions to 1.1 lakh employees in FY25. Not only this, the company is in the process of recruiting about 42,000 trainees in the current financial year FY26. Almost the same number of recruitments were done in FY25 as well. TCS CFO Sameer Seksaria said that the company’s profit has decreased in the last quarter of the last financial year, yet we will not back down from our hiring strategy.
40 percent hiring was digital
Chief HR officer Lakkad said that last year we did 40% digital hiring, whereas in the year before that this figure was 17%. This is a big strategic change for us. In the last four quarters, our employees decreased by 13%. We will need people for growth and to meet this shortage and promotion is a good way to meet this shortage. This is the reason why we have promoted 1.1 lakh employees in the last financial year.
Hiring is done in three categories
According to Lakkad, TCS’s National Qualifier Test follows the Integrated Test Pattern for entry-level hiring. Based on the performance of the test, candidates are eligible for one of the following hiring categories. This includes Prime, Digital and Ninja categories. He said that the company had recruited 42,000 trainees in the financial year 2024-25 and is preparing to hire the same number of trainees in the current financial year.
Increment postponed as profit decreased
TCS’s net profit fell 1.7 per cent to Rs 12,224 crore in the March quarter. After this, the company’s Chief HR Officer Milind Lakkad said that the increment that takes place in April every year has been stopped for the time being and it can be implemented anytime in the current financial year. It completely depends on the performance of the business. However, despite stopping the increment, the company will pay the entire variable to 70 per cent of the employees, while 30 per cent will get it on the basis of performance.
