TCS, the country’s largest IT company, has now taken major action regarding the recruitment scam. The company has shown the way out to 16 of its employees due to the scam that came to light recently, while it has banned 6 vendors. The company informed about this action on Sunday.
Action taken against total 19 employees
The Tata Group IT company issued a statement late on Sunday evening regarding the action. The company said that after receiving information about the recruitment scam, it was thoroughly investigated. During investigation, the company found that 19 of its employees were involved in the recruitment scam. Of those, 16 employees were fired by the company, while 3 employees were removed from the Resource Management Unit.
Action against vendors and their owners
Apart from its employees, TCS has also taken action against some vendors. The company banned 6 vendors, their owners and people associated with them from doing any business with TCS. In fact, when the information about the recruitment scam came to light, it was revealed that some vendors of TCS were colluding with some of its employees and were rigging the jobs.
The matter came to light in June 2023
The allegation of this irregularities came to light at a time when K Kritivasan had just assumed the responsibility of the post of Chief Executive Officer of TCS. He had to face this big challenge as soon as he took over the post of CEO. TCS had taken a strict stance after the matter was exposed. This matter came to light in June 2023 and at the same time the company started investigation.
The investigation lasted for about 4 months
After investigation that lasted for about 4 months, TCS has now taken action. The company has said that the investigation has not revealed any involvement of any key manager. This is not a matter of fraud with the company. The company has not incurred any financial liability due to this recruitment scam. TCS said that it will work on further improving its corporate governance in the coming times. This includes moving people to the resource management team at regular intervals and improving analytics in supplier management.
