Many state governments have abolished the period of ration cards currently in vogue or are working in this direction to get cheaper ration.
However, the central government has given the facility to the beneficiaries in the new system of public distribution system, ‘One Nation One Card’ scheme, that they will be able to buy food grains through Puran card also. If you want to get a new smart ration card, then for this you will have to visit the portal of the food and logistics department of your state. Different states have their own portals. In such a situation, you will have to download the ration card application form fr
om these portals.
The form has to be filled well and submitted to the nearest ration dealer or food supply office. If you are from rural area, you can submit the form to the Tehsil office. For this, the applicants have to pay some nominal amount.
For example, if a resident of Uttarakhand applies to make a new smart ration card under the public distribution system, then he will have to pay a fee of Rs 17. At the same time, the applicant will have to pay Rs 25 to get a duplicate if the card is lost. Similar states have different fees.
