The government is preparing to eliminate toll plazas on the highway. If you are thinking that with the abolition of toll plazas, toll tax will also end, then just wait…
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that a new toll system is coming soon. There will be no need of toll plaza for toll tax. There will be no toll barriers. If there are no toll plazas, the hassle of Fastag will also end. In such a situation, a new toll system will be implemented for toll tax. The Union Minister said that there will be satellite-based toll systems, with the help of which toll tax will be deducted. Toll tax will be done through satellite, which will be deducted directly from your bank account.
In the new toll system, toll tax will be deducted with the help of satellite. Toll tax will be deducted directly from your bank account. GPS and cameras will be used to deduct toll tax. A pilot run of GPS-based toll collection is going on. With the help of GPS and camera, toll tax will be deducted directly from your bank account according to the distance covered by your vehicle. Information about how much distance the vehicle has covered and how much toll will be charged will be collected with the help of GPS.
In December last year itself, Gadkari had announced satellite based toll tax system. He told how the new system will save both money and fuel. People will not have to stand in line at the toll plaza. Fuel, time and money will be saved due to less time taken to cover the distance. At present toll tax is deducted with the help of Fastag.
Earlier, toll tax had to be paid through cash payment. After this, the government brought the system of Fastag. After which toll tax started being deducted with the help of Fastag. Fastag was made mandatory after February 2015. Recently NHAI has made KYC mandatory for Fastag. From April 1, Fastags without KYC will become inactive or blacklisted. Without Fastag you will have to pay double toll tax.
