It has also been claimed in the message that the journalists will have to show their ID cards here, after which they will be allowed to proceed further. But when PIB fact checked this message, shocking information came to the fore.

Ministry of Transport released the list
On the basis of PIB fact check, it was told that some vehicles are exempted from paying toll tax. But this is not the case with the vehicles of journalists. A list has also been issued by the Ministry of Transport, in which about 25 people are exempted from paying toll tax. In this, relief from toll tax has been given to everyone from ambulance to the Prime Minister of India.

These vehicles are exempted from toll tax
– President of India
– Vice President of India
– prime minister of India
– Governor of any state
– Chief Justice of India
– Speaker of the Lok Sabha / Chairman of the Rajya Sabha
Chief minister of a state
– Cabinet Minister
– Supreme Court judge
– Minister of State of a state
– LG of Union Territories
Chief of Staff with the rank of full general or equivalent
Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of a State
– Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of a State
– Chief Justice of the High Court
– Judge of the High Court
– Lok Sabha / Rajya Sabha MP
– Secretary to the Government of India
– Lok Sabha Secretary
– Chief Secretary to the State Government

Chief of the Army Staff or equivalent in other services

Apart from the vehicles of the above people, paramilitary forces, central or state armed forces, firefighter department and executive magistrate also do not have to pay toll tax. Hearse vehicles are also exempted from paying toll tax. A foreign dignitary, a member of the Legislative Assembly of a state, who is on a state visit, is exempted from paying toll tax if he shows an identity card issued by the concerned state legislature. The person awarded with Paramveer Chakra, Ashok Chakra, Mahavir Chakra, Kirti Chakra, Vir Chakra and Shaurya Chakra, if the person receiving this award displays his photo identity card, then he also does not have to pay toll tax.
