The biggest tension is about toll tax as soon as you leave the vehicle on the highway. Do not walk 10 to 20 kilometers that a huge amount has to be paid in the form of toll tax.
The Central Government has created a category along with the guidelines regarding toll tax. People included in the category will not have to pay toll tax. In this category, 25 people or say posts have been included , who will not pay toll tax on the highway.
If you want to go from Ranchi to Barhi or Ranchi to Dhanbad, you have to pay toll tax at least twice. The first toll tax coming out of Ranchi has to be paid in Ormanjhi , second in Hazaribagh and third in Barhi.
If you are going to Delhi by road , then you will have to pay at least 1500 rupees as toll tax from one side. If you are going from Ranchi to Dhanbad , then you have to pay two toll taxes. But there are at least 25 such categories from which toll tax is not charged.
Apart from these MPs , MLAs, all government employees are also included. Whereas even the vehicles carrying the dead body are not charged toll tax.
Separate fee for each train at the toll naka A separate fee is charged for each train at the toll naka. Just as more tax is charged for buses and trucks , there is less tax for cars. In such a situation, vicious people are cheating by putting fastag of small vehicles on big vehicles. Double charge is levied if FASTag is not installed.
Toll Tax Free 25 Category Vehicles
At present, toll tax is being collected on almost all the expressways and highways of the country , but according to the rules of the Central Government, at present , no toll tax will be collected from 25 types of vehicles.
Till about a decade ago, only 9 categories of vehicles were exempted from toll tax , which has now increased to 25 .
They have got exemption in Toll Tax
The vehicles from which toll tax will not be charged include the names of big officials including President , Vice President , Prime Minister , Ministers to MPs and Judge-Magistrate. Officials of various ministries do not pay toll tax even during private travel.
Apart from this, defense , police , fire fighting , ambulances , dead bodies , selected state and central government officials , magistrates , secretaries , secretaries of various departments, officers of the National Highway Authority are included. State governments have their own list of people who are exempted.
Investigation revealed theft of revenue by applying FASTag
The Central Government has made FASTag mandatory at toll plazas across the country from February 15 , 2021 . In order to cross the toll, people are leaving by putting fastag of small vehicles on big vehicles. Due to which the government is facing a loss of lakhs of rupees.
In the investigation of the officials of the National Highway Authority of India (NHI), it was found that the vehicle crossing the toll is another and the FASTag is engaged by someone else. In such a situation, tax evasion of about Rs 300 to Rs 500 is done. Due to which the government has to bear the loss of revenue of lakhs of rupees.
