Yes, today i.e. from May 1, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has implemented a new rule for fake and promotional calls and SMS coming to the customers. The target of this new rule will be users making fake and spam calls. In fact, according to media reports, in the new rule applicable from May 1, TRAI has included an AI (Artificial Intelligence) filter through which fake calls and messages coming from banking or other marketing companies on the number of any users. Telecom companies will install this new artificial intelligence spam filter for phone calls and messages from May 1, 2023. TRAI has mandated that all telcos must include Artificial Intelligence (AI) spam filters in their call and SMS services.
This move will come as a relief to the customers who are receiving unwanted spam calls and messages on a daily basis. Reports suggest that leading telecom companies like Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio have announced the implementation of Artificial Intelligence filter service. Airtel has already made an official announcement regarding this while Jio is working towards launching this service soon.

After this, TRAI asked telecom companies to change the templates of promotional calls and messages. Also appealed to bring such a filter, so that fake calls and SMS can be curbed.
