TRAI New SIM Activation Rules: If you also keep two SIM cards in your phone then there is a good news for you. Because the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has made a new rule related to SIM card. This new rule is very good for those users who forget to recharge their secondary SIM. TRAI’s guidelines are designed to keep Jio, Airtel, Vi and BSNL SIM cards active for long validity without recharge. These new guidelines of TRAI will help users to avoid frequent recharge and reduce expenses.

20 rupees increases SIM activation validity by 30 days

According to a Business Standard report, if a SIM remains inactive for more than 90 days but the user has a prepaid balance of 20 rupees on his number, then the validity of your SIM being inactive will increase by 30 days. That is, your number can remain active for a total of 120 days. In this way, if you keep a secondary SIM, then after keeping a balance of 20 rupees in it, you can keep the SIM card active for 120 days after the recharge is over. But if you do not have 20 rupees, then your number will be disconnected after 90 days.

During 90 days, the incoming call facility of the users will remain active based on their last recharge plan. But if the user does not do any recharge for 90 days, then your number will be permanently disconnected i.e. it will be disconnected forever and that number will be given to someone else.

Airtel SIM Validity Rules

The Airtel SIM card will remain active for more than 90 days without any recharge. After this, users will get another 15 days to reactivate their number. If they do not recharge in this period, the number will be closed and will be available for new users.
