TRAI took a big decision: Good news! Now porting mobile number will be easy, know how

TRAI has given strict instructions to telecom companies. TRAI has strongly objected to the decision of telecom operators not to provide ‘outgoing SMS’ service in some ‘prepaid vouchers’. Some companies are not providing outgoing SMS facility with affordable recharge.

Telecom regulator TRAI on Tuesday asked telecom operators to enable number portability for all mobile users. TRAI has directed all the telecom operators. The regulator has asked to implement the SMS facility with immediate effect regarding portability. TRAI has been asked to provide this facility to all mobile phone users, irrespective of the amount of recharge they have done. Actually, recently Reliance Jio had written a letter to TRAI and complained in this regard. Jio had said in its complaint that Vodafone Idea’s new tariff structure is allegedly not providing the facility of mobile number portability to customers from its network for making low-cost recharge. TRAI gave strict instructions

According to TRAI , complaints have been received in recent days from customers that they are not able to use the ‘Mobile Number Portability’ service even after having sufficient balance in their prepaid account. For portability, UPC (Unique Porting Code) has to be generated and for that users are not able to send SMS to 1900. “All service providers are hereby directed to issue SMSA regarding UPC at 1900 to facilitate mobile phone portability to both prepaid and postpaid categories of mobile phone customers under the Telecom Mobile Number Portability Regulations, 2009,” the regulator said in its direction. Allow sending. This facility should be available to all customers, irrespective of the value of vouchers they are using.

Jio had complained

TRAI said the activities of non-provision of SMS sending facility relating to mobile number partability in certain prepaid vouchers/plans are in “violation” of the provisions of the regulation. It is worth noting that Vodafone Idea had increased mobile service and internet rates by 18-25 per cent in November. Under the new fee structure, the company has increased the introductory ‘plan’ from Rs 75 to Rs 99 with a validity of 28 days, but does not include SMS service. As per Jio’s complaint, Vodafone Idea is offering SMS service in plans 179 and above.
