Train ticket refund rules: If your train is late then you get full money, know Details

According to the rules of Indian Railways, if a train is late by more than 3 hours, then full refund can be recovered by canceling the ticket.

Earlier this rule was only for counter tickets. Now it has been implemented for online tickets as well. In such cases, the passenger would have to file TDR to get the refund. Let us know how to file TDR and what are the rules regarding this. To file TDR, login to IRCTC website or mobile app. Then go to My Account and select My Transaction option. In this you have been given the option of File TDR on which to click. After filing the TDR, money is refunded within a maximum of 60 days.

You can get refund if you are late by more than 3 hours

On clicking on File TDR, the complete details of your ticket will be revealed. If your train is late by more than 3 hours and do not want to travel due to being late, then in TDR reason, train late more than three hours has to be selected. If a passenger files TDR fraudulently by giving wrong information, then his claim will be rejected and the account will be de-activated. After filing TDR, go to My Transaction of My Account and go to Booked Ticket History. Here the pending request for TDR filing will be displayed.

No need to file TDR in case of train cancellation

If the train is canceled automatically, then there is no need to cancel the ticket and file TDR. If the train is more than 3 hours late and the passenger does not travel, then TDR has to be filed before the departure of the train. If the passenger has to travel in a lower class than the ticket, then the difference in the fare can be recovered by filing TDR. If the AC of the train is not working, then the passenger will have to file TDR before reaching his destination.

File TDR up to half an hour before the journey if you have a RAC ticket

If a passenger has a confirmed ticket and does not travel due to any reason, then four hours before the scheduled departure, the ticket will have to be canceled and TDR will have to be filed. If there is a RAC ticket, then the ticket can be canceled half an hour before the scheduled departure or TDR can be filed.

In these cases, TDR can be filed within 72 hours.



Further, if the train is diverted due to which the passenger is not able to travel, due to diversion, she does not arrive at the boarding station, due to diversion, the train does not reach the destination station, the train is terminated (its destination is changed). is), and in the group ticket, the partial confirmation means that the ticket of some people was confirmed and some people did not. In the above cases, refund can be recovered by filing TDR within 72 hours.
