To ensure transparency of the examination process, the Ministry of Education has decided to cancel the UGC-NET June 2024 exam. Now a fresh examination will be conducted, for which information will be shared separately. Also, the case has been handed over to the CBI for in-depth investigation of the matter.

The Ministry of Education has cancelled the UGC-NET June 2024 exam to be held in various cities of the country on June 18, 2024. The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the exam in OMR (pen and paper) mode in two shifts.

On June 19, 2024, the University Grants Commission (UGC) received some inputs from the National Cyber ​​Crime Threat Analytics Unit (NCTAU) of the Indian Cyber ​​Crime Coordination Centre, Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the examination. These inputs prima facie indicate that there was manipulation in the examination held on Tuesday.

CBI will investigate the matter

To ensure transparency of the examination process, the Ministry of Education has decided to cancel the UGC-NET June 2024 exam. Now a fresh examination will be conducted, for which information will be shared separately. Also, the case has been handed over to the CBI for in-depth investigation of the matter.

More than 11 lakh candidates had participated

The Ministry of Education said, ‘The examination will be conducted afresh, the information of which will be shared separately. The government is committed to ensuring the purity of the examinations and protecting the interests of the students. Let us tell you that the UGC NET exam June 2024 was conducted at 1205 examination centers in 317 cities across the country in which 11,21,225 candidates participated.

The first shift of the NET exam held on June 18 was from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and the second shift was from 3 pm to 6 pm. NTA conducted the exam for all 83 subjects on the same day.

The opposition targeted the government

Congress attacked the central government and said, “Modi government is playing with the future of the youth. Modi government has become a ‘paper leak government’.” Aam Aadmi Party also tweeted, “This government is causing great harm to the future of the country. Crores of students of the country are sinking into the darkness of despair every day.”

UGC NET Exam Pattern

The UGC NET exam consists of two papers containing objective type questions. To complete both the papers, candidates are given three hours to solve 150 questions. Paper 1 is same and compulsory for all candidates. Whereas Paper 2 is different for different subjects.

The UGC NET syllabus for Paper 1 consists of 10 units, each unit carries 5 questions. Paper 1 consists of 50 questions and Paper 2 consists of 100 questions and each question carries 2 marks. There is no provision for negative marking in the UGC NET exam.
