The University Grants Commission (UGC) has once again changed the eligibility conditions prescribed for the recruitment of Assistant Professors in the Universities and Colleges of the country. UGC has made changes in these eligibility rules many times in the past, due to which it has also faced opposition from teachers. However, this time the commission has relaxed the eligibility conditions which will make it easier for the eligible candidates to fill the posts of Assistant Professor.
UGC has now temporarily done away with the requirement of PhD for Assistant Professor recruitment. Now such candidates who are not PhD holders, but fulfill the rest of the prescribed qualifications, will be eligible to apply for the recruitment to the post of Assistant Professor and get the job.
