Many Aadhaar users are getting messages on email or WhatsApp to update Aadhaar. If you have also received this message, then be careful immediately because this is another new method of fraud.

UIDAI alerted

Alerting crores of Aadhaar users, UIDAI has informed by tweeting from its X handle that it never asks for documents through email or WhatsApp to update Aadhaar. In this case, always use My Aadhaar Portal to update Aadhaar. At the same time, to take advantage of the offline facility, visit the nearest Aadhaar center.

Update 10 years old aadhaar

Significantly, UIDAI has been running a campaign for some time, in which it has asked to update Aadhaar which is more than 10 years old. UIDAI says that people whose Aadhaar is more than 10 years old should update their demographic details such as Proof of Identity and Proof of Address (POI / POA) documents in Aadhaar. For this, UIDAI is also providing the facility to update Aadhaar for free. Earlier this free service was available till June 14, 2023, which has now been extended till September 14, 2023.

How to update Aadhaar for free-

  1. For this, first click on https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ website and enter your Aadhaar number.
  2. Then further select the option of Proceed To Update Address.
  3. Next, an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile, which must be entered here.
  4. Next you have to click on the option of Document Update. Here you will see the current address.
  5. If your address is correct then click on the link to verify.
  6. After this you have to choose the option for Proof of Identity and Proof of Address.
  7. After this you have to upload the scan copy for the address proof and then click on the submit button.
  8. After this your Aadhaar update request will be accepted and instead you will get 14 digit Update Request Number (URN).
