UIDAI Guidelines: Entities are required to maintain a log/record of explicit consent obtained from citizens for any future audit by the Unique Identification Authority of India or any other statutory agency.
UIDAI Guidelines For Aadhaar Verification: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has taken strict steps to prevent misuse of users’ data and Aadhaar. UIDAI has issued new guidelines for offline verification entities, asking clean entities to address clean usage issues, better security mechanisms and voluntarily increase the trust of citizens while using Aadhaar for legal purposes and QR Instructions have been issued to verify Aadhaar through code.
Along with this, instructions have been given not to collect, use or store the Aadhaar number of the citizen. Whereas, information about misuse of Aadhaar will have to be given to the authority and the concerned Aadhaar holder within 72 hours.
In the UIDAI guideline, institutions have been informed to verify Aadhaar after the explicit consent of the Aadhaar number holder. These entities should be polite to the citizens and assure them about the security and confidentiality of their Aadhaar while performing offline verification. Entities are required to maintain a log/record of explicit consent obtained from citizens for any future audit by the Unique Identification Authority of India or any other statutory agency.
Aadhaar verification should be done with QR code
UIDAI allows offline verification entities to accept Aadhaar in physical or electronic form as proof of identity instead of QR code present on all the four formats of Aadhaar (Aadhaar letter, e-Aadhaar, m-Aadhaar and Aadhaar PVC card) Asked to verify Aadhaar through. So that Aadhaar cannot be misused.
Report misuse of Aadhaar within 72 hours
No citizen is denied any service for refusing or unable to do offline verification of Aadhaar. If the entities get information about any misuse, they have to inform UIDAI and the concerned citizen about the same within 72 hours. So that their problems can be solved on time.
