Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana: In Ujjwala 2.0, migrants will not need to submit ration card or residence certificate.

Ujjwala Yojana 2.0: The Prime Minister will start the second phase of Ujjwala Yojana on 10th August by distributing LPG connections among Below Poverty Line (BPL) beneficiaries in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh. The Prime Minister will launch the PMUY scheme on this occasion through video conference. In Ujjwala 2.0, beneficiaries will get LPG connection without any deposit fee. Along with this, the first cylinder will be filled for free and the hotplate will also be available for free. The enrollment process in Ujjwala 2.0 will require minimal paperwork.

Beneficiaries will get these facilities

Under Ujjwala 2.0, the first refill and hotplate will be provided free of cost to the beneficiaries along with deposit free LPG connection. Also, the process of enrollment in this will require minimum paperwork. In Ujjwala 2.0, migrants will not need to submit ration card or residence certificate. For both ‘Family Declaration’ and ‘Residence Proof’, a declaration by itself is sufficient. Ujjwala 2.0 will help in realizing the Prime Minister’s vision of universal access to LPG.

The provision of one crore additional LPG connections was announced under the PMUY scheme in the Union Budget for the financial year 21-22. These one crore additional PMUY connections (under Ujjwala 2.0) are aimed at providing deposit-free LPG connections to low-income households that could not be covered under the first phase of PMUY.

Scheme was launched in 2016

Ujjwala Yojana was launched in 2016. Under Ujjwala 1.0, a target was set to provide LPG connections to five crore women members of Below Poverty Line (BPL) families.
