Under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana’, cylinders are given on subsidy. Hundreds of people have benefited through this scheme, started in 2016 with the aim of promoting the use of cylinders in every household. Recently its second phase has started.

Under this scheme, the government has set a target to provide subsidized LPG connections to women living below the poverty line. The condition is that none of their family members should have LPG gas connection in their name. Stove is also being given free of cost to the beneficiaries of this scheme along with the first fully filled cylinder.

The government has prescribed eligibility to apply. The first condition is that the applicant should be a woman and the age should be more than 18 years. Apart from this, it is mandatory for the woman to be from a BPL family. Must have BPL card and Ration card.


Along with this, there should not already be any LPG connection in the name of any member of the applicant’s family. Let us tell you that to take advantage of the scheme in the second phase, now very few formalities will have to be done. Migrant labor families do not even need to apply ration card or address proof.
