UPI payment for Features Phones! UPI payment facility started for Features Phones, know how it will work

Now crores of feature phone users of the country will be able to use UPI payment even without smartphone and internet, RBI launched a new facility


UPI for Feature Phones: Reserve Bank (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das on March 8 launched Unified Payment Interface (UPI) for feature phones. With this, crores of feature phone users of the country have been able to use UPI payments despite the absence of smartphones and internet. Along with this, he also launched a 24×7 helpline for digital payments named DigiSaathi.

Till now this facility was for smartphone users.

The central bank had in December announced plans to launch UPI123Pay for feature phones. This facility is for mobile without advanced features. This payment platform could only be used on smartphones since its launch in 2016, leaving feature phone users in rural areas deprived of it.

Interactive Voice Response

  • Interactive Voice Response: Payment can be made through UPI through Interactive Voice Response (IVR) number. There is also scope for the app to work in feature phones.
  • Along with this, feature phone users can do various financial and non-financial transactions including P2P payments, utility bill payments, FASTag recharge, mobile bills, DTH and mobile recharge.
  • With this your bank account can be linked, UPI PIN can be created or changed. Along with this, the account balance can also be enquired.
  • For UPI payments through pre-determined IVR numbers (080 4516 3666 and 080 4516 3581), feature phone users need to make a secure call to the designated number and complete UPI with all the necessary formalities to make financial transactions without internet connection. Will happen.

How will the app work

  • With the app working in feature phones, most of the UPI features available on smartphones, except ‘Scan and Pay’, will now be available on feature phones as well, work on which is in progress.
  • It will have sound-based payments that use sound waves to enable contactless, offline and proximity data communication across a device.
  • With the missed call based facility, feature phone users will be able to access their bank accounts and do regular transactions like fund transfer, regular purchases, bill payments etc. For this, they will have to give a misscall on the display number at the merchant’s place. The customer will receive a call from the number 08071 800 800 and will be asked to authenticate his transaction by entering the UPI PIN.

Digisathi

DigiSaathi : Digisathi will assist callers/users with all queries on digital payments through website and chatbot facility at www.digisaathi.info and toll free calls 14431 and 1800 891 3333. On this you can dial or call to get information about options / products.

Digisathi is an Automated Response System that will help the customers in resolving the issues related to many products and services under the Patented System. This includes Cards, UPI, NEFT, RTGS, IMPS, NETC, BBPS, USSD, PPI Wallet, ATM, QR (UPI/India), Mobile and Internet Banking etc.

DigiSaathi is available in both Hindi and English language, which will guide the customers on how to use a particular product or service.
