UPI123Pay: Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das has launched UPI 123Pay today (March 8, 2022). This feature is for feature phones. That is, those who do not have a smartphone with internet, they will also be able to make payment through UPI. This means to say that from today you can easily make digital payments without internet and smartphone.
Who will get benefit?
According to the Reserve Bank, the launch of UPI 123pay will benefit about 400 million people in India who are using feature phones. This will benefit the people living in villages, towns or small towns. On the occasion of the launch, Governor Das said that UPI for feature phones will help people in rural areas who cannot afford smartphones, due to which they are unable to make UPI payments.
How will UPI123Pay work?
According to RBI, with the UPI123pay facility, feature phone users can make payments in three simple steps ‘call, select and pay’. Internet connection is not required for transactions under this facility. To use this facility, customers need to link their bank account with the feature phone. Users will be able to make payment by generating a UPI PIN by giving their debit card details.
What facilities will be available?
Feature phone users will also have access to four feature phone based payment solutions. First – IVR based payment solution, second – app based payment on feature phone, third – missed call pay and fourth – payment on voice based device.
Can you also pay urgent bills?
Yes! Absolutely can. According to the information given by RBI, under the facility of UPI123Pay, you can also pay the necessary bills of feature phones. They can also recharge the FASTag of their vehicles. You can also pay mobile bills. Not only this, users will also be able to check the balance in their account. Customers will even be able to link their bank accounts to set and change the UPI PIN.
What if there was a problem?
For this, RBI has launched a 24×7 helpline Digisathi. The helpline named ‘DijiSathi’ will assist the callers/users with all their queries on digital payments through the website and chatbot. Users can visit www.digisaathi.info or call on 14431 and 1800 891 3333 from their phones for their queries on digital payments and complaints.
