UPSC Lateral Entry: The central government has stopped UPSC’s lateral entry recruitment. For this, a letter has been written to UPSC by the central government. Let us tell you that questions were being raised about lateral entry recruitment, after which the government has taken this decision. This letter has been written to the UPSC chairman by Union Minister Jitendra Singh. In which he has also mentioned the initiative taken on such appointment during the UPA government. It has been said in this letter that in the year 2005, for the first time under the chairmanship of Veerappa Moily, the central government recommended lateral entry. Recently, a recruitment advertisement for lateral entry was issued by UPSC, the process of which and the opposition was constantly attacking the government regarding the reservation in it. After continuous questions being raised on this, now the central government has written a letter to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) asking it to cancel the direct recruitment advertisement.
Opposition had raised questions
The opposition was constantly raising questions on the government regarding the lateral entry in UPSC. Leaders of many opposition parties including Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in Lok Sabha had opposed lateral entry in UPSC and not giving reservation in it. After this, many parties in the government also started raising their voice regarding this, after which now the government has instructed UPSC to cancel the advertisement of lateral entry.
This is the whole matter
Just three days ago, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) had issued an advertisement for the recruitment of Joint Secretaries, Directors and Deputy Secretaries on a total of 45 posts in central ministries and departments through lateral entry. After which there was a ruckus about this, the opposition alleged that reservation was being ignored in these recruitments.
