UPSC Result 2020: Muslim participation increased, 45 candidates successful this time

The participation of the Muslim community in the country’s most prestigious Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination is constantly improving. In ten years, the success of Muslims has increased hundred percent. This time 45 Muslim candidates have been successful. Among them, there are 30 contestants of the Residential Coaching Academy of Jamia Milia Islamia and seven contestants of the Hamdard Residential Coaching Academy. Out of these, the Zakat Foundation provided financial assistance.




In the Civil Services Examination 2019, 829 candidates have been selected, out of which 45 are Muslims. Whereas in 2010, 31 Muslims were among 791 successful candidates ten years ago. At the same time, only 21 candidates were successful in 2011. While 50 candidates were successful in 2016 and 52 in 2017. This time Muslim candidates have got the most success in ten years on percentage basis. The previous best record was 2017. Then 52 Muslim candidates were successful in 990 and the participation was 5.3 per cent. This time the number of Muslim candidates is 45 and the participation is more than 5.4 percent. Safna Nazruddin has topped the 45th rank. After this, Sheikh Mohammad Jab Zakir ranked 153rd, J.J. Rahman is ranked 176th, Rumaiza Fatima is ranked 185th.

Naga candidate successful in UPSC after 13 years



Nearly 13 years later, a Naga candidate has passed civil service. According to the CSE-2019 results, Richard Yanthan of Naga’s Wokha district is ranked 133rd. Nagaland Chief Minister Nefue Rio tweeted, Congratulations to Richard on passing with the best ranking. You have entered the world of challenges and opportunities. I wish your country good health and conscience in country service. Yanthan has done BTech in Civil Engineering and is Additional Assistant Commissioner in the Government of Nagaland. He passed the Nagaland Public Service Examination 2018. His mother Shilumenla Longachari is also a bureaucrat and serves as the Deputy Secretary in the Government of Nagaland.
