New Delhi: Home services marketplace UrbanClap rolled out insurance at no cost, to more than 20,000 partners on its platform. This is a first-in-class initiative that extends insurance cover for partners in a services gig economy. Coinciding with the festive season, the company expressed gratitude via this initiative to its partners, which helps them live a #SecureLife.

UrbanClap now covers all its professionals across home and beauty services with life insurance up to ₹3 lakh (increased from ₹1 lakh earlier), disability insurance up to ₹3 lakh, accidental insurance covering hospital expenses up to ₹70,000 and OPD treatments for accidents up to ₹10,000.

“We engage closely with our partners and are committed to helping them live a secure life. We noticed that most micro-entrepreneurs do not avail or buy insurance covers on their own as it requires them to pay a monthly premium. To solve this, we devised a fully funded insurance program for our partners where they don’t have to pay to avail insurance benefits,” said Abhiraj Bhal, Co-Founder, UrbanClap.

UrbanClap has services and professionals across all 14 cities in India and has partnered with Acko General Insurance Company for the India-wide initiative. The partners are eligible to avail the insurance benefits as soon as they are active on the platform. The platform can decipher when the partners are on the job and accordingly information is shared with the insurance company.

This is just one step further in strengthening the company’s relationship with professionals.
