During the Brussels Forum, Pompeo repeatedly referred to the Communist Party’s threat in China and the provocative military actions of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), including a fatal border confrontation with India. Pompeo said Pompeo said the CCP’s behavior is fundamentally threatening the safety of the American people. He has stressed that the Donald Trump administration is the first in decades to take this threat seriously.

The US Secretary of State said that I am happy to announce that the US has approved the proposal to communicate with the EU. The US has accepted Borel’s proposal to have a high representative of US-EU dialogue. Pompeo said that I am excited about a new mechanism to discuss this new threat. The concerns that Western countries have for our shared democratic ideals have been discussed.

Last week, EU chief diplomat Joseph Borel called for talks between Europe and the United States with the aim of forging a common transatlantic front against China. During the talks with the US Secretary of State for Foreign Ministers of 27 European Union countries, Burrell said on 15 June that the meeting was important to protect the shared values and interests of the two sides.

On the other hand, the US has hardened its attitude against China. The US Senate on Thursday approved the Hong Kong Autonomy Act, which transcends the Sino-British Joint Declaration and Hong Kong Basic Law commitments. The US has taken this step at a time when China has indicated that it will implement the law on June 30, despite opposition from the US and all European countries. China said that this week China’s top legislative body will approve this law. In such a situation, the dispute between the two countries has deepened once again in Hong Kong over the National Security Act.
