Know how special is the Katra-Kashmir track
In the last three months, the railways have conducted 8 trials on different segments of the Katra-Kashmir track. These include India’s first cable-stayed rail bridge, Anji Khad Bridge and the world’s highest railway bridge built on Chenab at Kauri. Railway officials said that this 1,315 meter long bridge on Chenab river is built near Salal Dam. Its main arch span is 467 meters and it can withstand winds of 266 km/h. The special thing is that this bridge is higher than the Eiffel Tower and from the riverbed to the rail level, it is about 5 times higher than the Qutub Minar. More than 28,000 metric tons of steel was used to build this engineering marvel. For the first time, a special cable crane system has been used in it.
