After the removal of Article 370 in 2019, PM Modi will participate in a public program in this area for the first time.

More than 500 stations will be revamped

Railway officials said, on this occasion, a train running on clean fuel in the Railway Valley will be included in the history. The biggest program is also being organized to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of about 2,000 projects at one go. Under this, more than 500 railway stations will be revamped. Railway over bridge and under bridge will also be constructed. These major works will be announced by the Central Government before the implementation of the code of conduct for the proposed Lok Sabha elections in May-June.

Train expected to operate till Srinagar before elections

However, railway officials expressed hope that train operations from Srinagar to Jammu will start before the Lok Sabha elections. With this, the government’s old promise of connecting the valley by train will also be fulfilled. There may be a delay due to the time taken to complete the two tunnels between Sangaldan and Katra. Officials said that the 18 km long stretch between Dugga and Reasi has been completed. But until the work on both sides is completed, the operation of trains cannot be started.

Another official said that non-stop train service between Jammu and Kashmir is expected to start by July-August this year. Currently, diesel trains are operated on the 138 km long Baramulla-Banihal section. After the commencement of the new railway line, passengers will be able to travel by train from Baramulla to Sangaldan. There are 19 stations on this route and the electrification of this section has cost Rs 470 crore. With the electrification of this section, Vande Bharat train can also be operated in the future.
