Safety Norms: If you also have a vehicle, then let us tell you that many rules related to it are going to change from October 1, 2022. In this, the rules related to tires of special design for vehicles are being brought. At the same time, in the next month, new safety norms are being introduced for the batteries installed in electric two-wheelers.
Let us inform that these days the Ministry of Transport is fully alert regarding the safety of vehicles and is working on its target to reduce the deaths in road accidents by 2024. For this reason, the government is incorporating many new rules.
Tire rules
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has approved changes in the design of vehicle tires for the safety of vehicles. It will be implemented from October 1, 2022. According to which, from today the tires will be made according to the new design. From April 1 next year, vehicles will be sold with newly designed tyres.
As per the new rule, AIS-142:2019 Stage 2 rule has been made mandatory for C1, C2, and C3 category tyres. It will be mandatory in new vehicles from 1st April 2023. AIS-142:2019 Stage 2 rules include rules relating to friction of tires on roads, loose grip on roads and the sound of rolling tires while driving.
At present, norms have been issued to design tires according to these rules and soon the Ministry of Transport is going to start star rating for tyres. The quality of the tires will be judged on the basis of this rating.
Battery safety rules coming in December
The Transport Ministry is preparing to introduce a battery safety norm to reduce the incidence of fires in electric two-wheelers. Earlier it was being implemented from 1 October 2022, but now it has been increased to 1 December 2022. This rule will be implemented in two phases, under which the rules of the first phase will be implemented from 1 December 2022 and the rules of the second phase will be implemented from 1 March 2023.
Under this new rule, updated AIS 156 and AIS 038 Rev.2 standards will be made mandatory for electric vehicles. Draft notification has already been issued for this.
