The High Commission of India in London opened the visa application process for UK youth applying under the new Young Professionals Scheme (YPS) on 28 February. Similarly, the British High Commission in New Delhi has started the process for Indian graduates. Under the agreement signed between the two countries in November last year, Indian and British citizens aged between 18 and 30 can apply to live and work in each other’s country for two years.

There are certain criteria for applicants applying for a visa under the scheme, including having a bachelor’s degree and having sufficient funds for their stay. That is, only those students or youth will be eligible for the application, who have at least a bachelor’s degree and have sufficient funds deposited in their account. So that if there is any problem while coming and going abroad, he can deal with the financial problem. Indian High Commissioner to the UK Vikram Doraiswamy announced the launch of the scheme on Twitter. Know what is the fee
It has been launched simultaneously in Delhi and London for Indians coming to UK and British nationals going to India respectively. Information on the High Commission of India website has been updated with details of applicants and a fee of £720. The application is to be made under the E-1 Visa through VFS Global Visa Service Provider. Each applicant will be required to show funds equivalent to Rs 2,50,000 for a minimum period of 30 days at the time of application submission.
According to the website of the High Commission of India, successful applicants can take up jobs in the designated area during their stay. However, projects related to defence, telecommunications, space technology, strategic infrastructure, civil aviation, human rights, atomic energy and environment have been kept out of its purview.
The British High Commission in New Delhi will provide 2400 visas in the first phase to eligible Indians under the reciprocity scheme. The process for this started on Tuesday afternoon and will continue till March 2. Candidates who are successful in this process will be able to apply for a visa within the stipulated time frame in the next phase. The successful candidate must travel to the UK within six months of applying for the visa.
