In Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, women can now easily get their address changed in the voter list after marriage . If she chooses to stay at her husband’s house, she will have the option to enter her new address. To make the voting process easier for such women, the Lucknow District Magistrate (also District Election Officer) made this announcement on Saturday.
As per the rules, married women will no longer need to go to their father’s house to cast their votes. They have been given an option under which if the husband says that the name mentioned in the form is that of his wife and he wants the amendment, then the new address will be entered.
A Hindi daily, quoting the District Magistrate, further said that the revised voter list would be published on January 5, 2022. There are total 1526 polling stations and 4018 polling stations in the capital. At present there are 37,31,000 registered voters in Lucknow, of which 19,94, 487 are males, 17,36,507 are females. At least 23,400 voters are in the age group of 18 to 19 years.
Four days of special drives will also be conducted for the Address Revision Program (Address Revision Programme). The first special operation will be conducted on November 7, followed by the second special operation on November 13, 21 and 28. During this time people can enroll their names in the voter list.
What is the system to see the name in the voter list?: From November 1 to November 30, 2021, all the polling stations will have to see the document of the voter lists. Apart from this, by clicking on the ‘Search Your Name Electoral Roll’ button on ceouttarpradesh.nic.in, voters can check their own details. Not only this, you can also check your name at electoralsearch.nic.in.
Name can be added to the voter list like this: For the inclusion or modification of the name, the online web portal created by the Election Commission of India at voterportal.eci.gov.in or nvsp.in on mobile number / e-mail ID / voter ID number or Facebook Login via /G-mail/Twitter/LinkedIn.
Registration will run for a month in Mathura Special fair: The UP government is going to organize a special Voters’ Voters’ Fair throughout November to register new voters and provide them with other facilities and to bring awareness about voting among youth and women. This fair will start from November 1 and will run till November 30. DM and Returning Officer Navneet Singh Chahal said, “Booth level officers will be present in the fair along with the registration form to facilitate the new voters to enroll their names in the voters list.”
