Weather Today: Heavy monsoon rains are expected in 25 states of the country including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar today. In view of the possibility of heavy rains, the IMD has issued an orange alert in 10 states. At the same time, showers are also expected in Delhi today.
Weather Today: Heavy to very heavy rains are expected at different places in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Gangetic plains of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe and Lakshadweep today. According to the IMD, about 12 cm of rain is expected in these states. In view of this, the IMD has issued an orange alert in all these states. According to IMD, heavy rains may occur at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Western Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Coastal Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka. These states are likely to receive up to 7 cm of rain.
According to the weather bulletin of IMD, thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and strong winds (speed up to 30-40 kmph) are likely at isolated places in Kerala, Mahe, Telangana and Lakshadweep today. While lightning is likely at many places in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema and Interior Karnataka. At the same time, the sky will remain generally cloudy in Delhi-NCR area today and light rain or drizzle is possible.
According to the IMD, today 35 km per hour to 45 km per hour wind is expected in many parts of West Central Arabian Sea and Southwest Arabian Sea. While 55 km per hour wind is expected over Karnataka, Kerala coasts as well as many parts of East Central and South-East Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep, Comorin area, above Sri Lanka coast, many parts of South-West Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal, Gangetic West Bengal and North Odisha coasts. Winds are expected to blow at a speed of 45 km per hour. According to IMD, strong winds are expected to blow at a speed of 55 km per hour on the West Central Arabian Sea, western parts of South-West Arabian Sea, Somalia, Oman coasts. Fishermen have been advised not to go to these areas.
