Severe heatwave is likely over many parts of Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi (Delhi NCR Weather Update), isolated parts of West Madhya Pradesh on 25th May 2024 and heatwave is likely over isolated parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Western Uttar Pradesh, Eastern Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch.
There is a possibility of rain with thunder and strong winds in Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep and coastal Karnataka from 24 to 26 May. Rain is also expected in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana and interior Karnataka.
Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are likely to receive very heavy rainfall (>204.4 mm) on 27 May while heavy to very heavy rainfall (115.5-204.4 mm) is likely on 26 and 28 May 2024.
It is known that moving northwards, it is likely to cross Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal coasts between Sagar Island and Khepupara as a severe cyclonic storm Remal around midnight of 26 May.
IMD scientist Dr. Anand Kumar Das told CNBC Awaaz that the cyclone alert could come on Saturday night. But the matter of relief is that it can cause havoc not in India but in Bangladesh.
