Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh used to be the longest platform earlier, but now this record has been snatched from Hubli railway station in Karnataka.

India’s longest railway station is built in the South-West Zone of Indian Railways. Sri Siddharudha Swami Ji Railway Station located in Hubli, Karnataka, which is not only the longest railway station in India but in the whole world.

How long is the platform

Hubli railway station is the longest railway station not only in India but in the world. There is a platform of 1507 meters i.e. about one and a half kilometer. It is so long that the entire train stands on the platform.

Cost of building the longest railway station

Hubli railway station was built at a cost of Rs 20.1 crore. However, the cost of development of this entire scheme reached close to Rs 500 crore. In March 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated this railway station and handed it over to the country.

Name registered in Guinness Book of World Records

Apart from 5 old platforms, three new platforms have been added at this railway station. Out of which the longest platform is number 8. Its length is 1507 meters, due to which its name is recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest railway platform in the world.

Gorakhpur railway station in second place

Before Hubli, Gorakhpur railway station was the longest railway station in the world. Its length is 1,366.33 meters. On the third number is Kollam Junction in Kerala, whose length is 1180.5 meters.
