The old, 5, 10 and 100 rupee notes will not stop trending in the country. PIB has denied this after the news came to light.
PIB Fact Check wrote on its Twitter wall that it is being claimed in a news that according to information given by RBI, old notes of 5, 10 and 100 rupees will not run after March 2021. This claim is fake and the RBI has not made any such announcement. In fact, in the RBI meeting in Mangalore, the Reserve Bank had asked the banks to keep the clean notes in circulation only. Reserve Bank officials said that these instructions are only for banks, so people do not have to bother with this. The media misunderstood this statement. It has now become clear that no notes of any kind will be withdrawn in the country.
