Units set up in Special Economic Zones will be able to provide work from home facility to 100% of their employees. Industries Minister Piyush Goyal said that a mutual agreement has been reached between the government departments in this matter.

Units set up in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) will be able to provide Work From Home (WFH) facility to 100% of their employees. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that a mutual agreement has been reached between the government departments in this matter. Soon the notification in this matter may be issued. At present, IT sector companies working in SEZs can provide WFH facility to 50 percent of the employees.

IT company wants to give jobs to two lakh people in next three years

Goyal said that the advantage of the new facility will be that the job opportunities will emerge for the youth of small towns. He told that it is being seen that when the employees working in the SEZ are called to the office for work, they are joining some other company. The SEZ unit was given WFH facility during the Corona period, so that the exports of the service sector would not be affected. As a result, India’s service exports stood at $254 billion in the last fiscal. He told that a big IT company wants to give jobs to two lakh people in the next three years.

People of small towns get a chance to work from home

This decision of the government will help such companies. NASSCOM Vice President Shivendra Singh said that the youth of Tier-2, Tier-3 cities will get a chance to work from home if 100% employees get the facility of WFH. This demand was made from the government on behalf of NASSCOM.

According to experts, by providing WFH facility to 100 percent of the employees, the cost of the companies comes down considerably. American companies are showing great interest in this model. However, some IT companies in India are opposing the WFH model as employees move to WFH for other companies.
