Zuckerberg’s order: Remote work policy closed, work from office will have to be done 3 days a week

DA hike announcement: These two states gave a gift to their employees, increased DA by 4%.

The company is withdrawing its full-time remote-work policy, although the company is still offering the option of hybrid work. Under the new policy, employees will have to work from office three days a week.

Facebook parent company Meta is withdrawing its full-time remote-work policy, although the company is still offering hybrid work options. Under the new policy, Meta employees will have to work from the office three days a week, while remote workers can continue to work from home. The new policy will come into force in September.

In fact, the company had extended its remote-work policy in 2021 amid fears of Omicron variants. However, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg started hinting at a shutdown of remote work late last year after the company laid off 11,000 employees. Not only Meta, other big tech companies including Amazon, Google and Apple are also working in hybrid model.

A Meta spokesperson confirmed the policy change to CNBC and said the company expects it to have a “meaningful impact.” “We are committed to distributed work, and we believe people can make a meaningful impact both from the office and from home,” the statement said.

Zuckerberg had said this at the time of Covid

Indeed, after announcing the first round of layoffs in November 2022, Meta is considering different ways to bring its employees back to the office. Zuckerberg cited internal studies to claim that engineers working from the office performed better than those working remotely. But Zuckerberg’s statement was completely different from what he said in 2021 during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Because at that time he said that “good work” “can be done anywhere.”

The company will again remove 10 thousand employees

Meta is also in the process of completing the second round of layoffs, with more than 10,000 employees at risk. The company has also cut down on “perks” of employees, including – extra vacation days, or meta days, offered during the pandemic for the mental health of employees.

Apple and Amazon employees are angry with such policy

On the one hand, Meta is taking all possible measures to bring the employees to the office thrice a week. On the other hand, Apple employees expressed dissatisfaction with the company’s mandatory three-day work-from-office policy. But Apple believes “in-person collaboration” is essential to the company’s culture and future. Similarly, Amazon employees also staged a walkout earlier this week following the company’s decision to mandate three-day work from office. Amazon employees are also upset with the layoff decision.

Indian company is also not far behind

Not just foreign tech firms, Indian tech firms are also taking similar measures as COVID-19 cases continue to decline. Recently, TCS had issued a warning to the employees to follow the company’s work from office policy. Actually the company wants people to work from office three days a week, which is 12 days a month.
